About

Hi, I’m Spencer Wilson. I’m wrapping up my first year of studies in mathematics and computer science at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario. I’ll graduate with my BMath in 2023. For the first eighteen years of my life, I lived in Orillia, Ontario.

My subjects of primary interest are algebra and number theory, and I am also curious but not yet knowledgeable about cryptography. I make a point of running free and open-source software whenever possible. In general, I like to be close to the machine whenever I perform a task, whether by performing calculations by hand, running Linux on my laptop, or driving a stick shift.

In my spare time, I like to read both fiction and non-fiction, especially books that touch on history, science, and philosophy; play piano, especially tunes by Scott Joplin or the Beatles; and watch the Leafs, especially when they’re winning. I stay active through karate, baseball, pickup hockey, and a bodyweight exercise program.
